Wow I updated this blog and added my own blog picture, how cool!  I'm such a geek.  Today is June 19th and really loving how I'm getting so much better with photography.  There is still a lot more to learn.  My next steps are using a reflector and learning textures in  photoshop.  I love these 2 new goals I set myself to do.  After that I'm definitely learning flash and going back to practicing more indoor studio work.  I have a great little studio in by 3rd bedroom, but I love outdoor shooting.  Too bad it wasn't all year long.  I need to take advantage of the summer it goes by quickly.  Casey currently has 3 bows to model but with the high temperatures this week, its going to be impossible to shoot.  I'm looking forward towards the end of the week once it gets a little cooler. 

I just did a shoot at the Naperville riverwalk and just loved this outfit Casey modeled.  It's awesome!!

First Photo Family Session

Well being busy with my full time job, I seem to forget that I have a blog to update.  Today is Tuesday, June 5, 2012 and poor Casey is sick.  I had to stay home from work today.  I hope she feels better tomorrow.  We are going on a weekend trip to Wisconsin, so I want her all better so she can go swimming and have lots of fun.

I'm also feeling more confident in my photography.  I had my first family shoot this past Sunday for a friend and it was great.  The kids were great and I took some really nice pictures of the family.  I need to try to be a little more creative.  I was nervous so when she asked where to stand, I said anywhere.  I need have more of a take charge attitude and advise her where to stand and what to do instead of her asking me.  I was nervous, so I forgive myself this time.  I also wrote down some things to do in a journal so I can look back at it and say okay, lets try in this way, or remember to change the angle.  I missed some great shots by not changing my angle.  The sun was really bright at 10:30 in the morning so that was a bit of a challenge for me as well.  LESSON LEARNED! Overall though, I loved how the photos turned out.   I just need to keep in mind that this was my first session as a family photographer and to keep practicing and work hard to improve.

The End of April

Well for some reason I don't find this blog site easy to use.  Maybe it's because I don't use it enough.  I'll get the hang of it. :)  Anyway, today is Sunday, April 29 and its looking to be a beautiful day.  Thank goodness because we have had some terrible weather.  So goodbye to April and I open arms to May!  Casey has two photo shoots today.  I've been  holding off since its been so cold.   I found a new conservatory we are going to check out in the area, so I'm excited.  I hope to get some fabulous pictures for the boutiques. 

Oh I started a new website, specifically for Casey so I can link the site when I apply for pro casting calls over at Little Diamond Models.  How excited am I.  :)  One day I hope I can make this photography a business but until then I'm very happy shooting my little girl!

Hi my name is Christine McAhren and I'm very new to the blog site!  I was wondering how this worked and I finally figured it out!  I'm pretty new to the photography industry and it all started becasue of my darling 2 year old.  I cannot call myself a professional (yet!) I sure enjoy it and have become much better over the year.  I never thought this hobby would start an obsession. :)  I plan on going to school hopefully in January, 2013 to get my certification in graphic arts digital photography and hopfully one day be able to capture beautiful moments behind the camera and utilize art to the highest potential.  Until then I am having fun with my daughter, as she has become a better model for mama, and love the opportunity to get more exposure from boutiques.
